Promoting Student Success

Pioneering a Brighter Future at West High School

West is perfectly positioned for a new program in tourism, hospitality, and business. Focusing on careers in Downtown Wichita, located less than a mile from the school, students have a unique opportunity to combine classroom learning, hands-on simulation and exploration, and visits to local businesses in the downtown core, preparing them for a career or college after graduation.

Classes will be taught by current Wichita Public School teachers and supplemented by field trips, presentations by industry experts and internships and externships throughout Downtown Wichita.

Investing in Staff

Empowering Educators, Enriching Futures

We know the people who invest in our students is Wichita Public Schools most valuable resource. Working alongside district leadership we will provide the highest quality of professional development, as well as scholarships and grants for teachers and support staff for continuing educational opportunities.

Creating a Legacy

The Legacy Fund

We believe every student should graduate ready for a career, college and life after high school. The Legacy Fund was established in 2019 to support the FutureReady Centers for USD 259 and the Early College Academy at Northwest High School.

The main fundraiser for the Legacy Fund is the annual Legacy Fund Golf Tournament, learn more about this event (link to the events page)

FutureReady Centers are open to all Wichita Public Schools high-school students at no-charge. To assist with needed uniforms, supplies and other materials students need to be successful, the Legacy Fund provides funding to ensure all students can participate free of charge.

The Early College Academy provides students the opportunity to earn up to 60 hours of college credit while in high school. Through a partnership with Friends University, students attend classes at Northwest and Friends University instructors. Scholarships are given to students based on financial need covering up to 100% of all tuition and fees.
