Friendship Fund
The Friendship Fund at Wichita Public Schools provides emergency support for any Wichita Public Schools staff member facing unexpected hardships or crisis situations. Assistance may include help with basic needs including housing support, transportation, utilities, medical-related expenses. The Friendship Fund serves as a compassionate safety net, allowing Wichita Public Schools to respond quickly when individuals need support most.
The Wichita Public Schools Foundation proudly manages and supports the Friendship Fund through donations by WPS staff and the greater Wichita community. By working closely with district leadership, school counselors, social workers, and family engagement teams, the Foundation helps ensure funds are distributed thoughtfully and efficiently to meet critical needs across the district. The Friendship Fund reflects the community’s commitment to caring for students and staff beyond the classroom and ensuring that challenges outside of school do not prevent success inside the classroom.
The Friendship Fund Board meets monthly review requests and payments are made directly to utility providers, landlords or hospital systems. If you or someone you know is a WPS employee who is in need of support from the Friendship Fund, we encourage you to reach out to Friendship Fund Liaison Michelle Phillips at mphillips1@usd259.net for more information and the application.
