Throughout the year, we support WPS teachers and staff through teacher incentives, meals at conferences, special staff-only giveaways, recognition and more.
Distinguished Classroom Teacher Award
- Each year, Wichita Public Schools celebrates excellence by awarding the DCTA to eight outstanding certified staff members across the following categories:
- New Teacher of the Year:
  - Elementary (PreK-5)
  - Secondary (6-12)
- Teacher of the Year:
  - Primary (PreK-2)
  - Intermediate (3-5)
  - Middle School (6-8)
  - High School (9-12)
- Certified Support Staff of the Year:
  - Elementary (PreK-5)
  - Secondary (6-12)
- Awards are given to the winner and finalist in each category. The WPS Foundation is proud to celebrate this achievement by providing each winner a $1,000 grant to be used in their classroom and each finalist receives a $250 grant for their classroom.

New Teacher Classroom Grant
- All teachers in their first year in the classroom are part of the New Teacher Induction Program at Wichita Public Schools, providing them with a peer mentor, a cohort of teachers to lean on and regular training and support.
- Each August, each of the nearly 300 new teachers to the district are awarded a $300 classroom grant to help them supply their classrooms. This grant goes a long way to help new teachers prepare for their first year in the classroom.
- For only $25 a month you can Adopt A New Teacher at Wichita Public Schools, funding their classroom for the entire year, and providing important support for our newest educators.
